"DJ Got U.s.a. Fallin' in Love" is a song past American singer Usher, featuring invitee vocals from American rapper Pitbull, who co-wrote the song with the producers Shellback and Max Martin, with additional writing from Savan Kotecha. It was released to digital download on July xiii, 2010, and sent to radio on July xx, 2010, as the beginning single from Conductor'southward EP, Versus EP, which is an extension of his sixth studio album, Raymond 5. Raymond. An electronic dance track with a Europop style (though the track was recorded in the U.s.), the song puts emphasis on its chorus, and follows the chord progression of Gm-F-Eastward♭. It received mixed to positive reviews from critics, who favored its production and Usher's vocals, simply criticized the vocal'south lack of originality.
"DJ Got U.s.a. Fallin' in Dear" peaked in the elevation-ten in over fifteen countries, condign i of Conductor'due south near successful singles. It reached the height-iii on the Japan Hot 100, Canadian Hot 100, Hungary Singles Chart, French Singles Chart and ARIA Singles Chart. It peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100, marker Conductor's sixteenth elevation-ten hit on the chart. Information technology received a 4 times Platinum certification from the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) and a 2 times Platinum certification from Canadian Recording Industry Clan (CRIA). An accompanying music video, directed past Hiro Murai, shows Usher krumping and crip walking in a society environment.

"DJ Got Usa Fallin' in Dearest" was leaked on the internet on July 9, 2010, with its follow-up single "Hot Tottie" leaked later that month.[i] [2] The song was released from Versus as the EP'southward mainstream unmarried, whereas the latter track was released as the urban single.[three] "DJ Got U.s. Fallin' in Love" features guest vocals past rapper Pitbull, who co-wrote it with Savan Kotecha, Max Martin and Shellback, with production handled by the latter two.[4] It was recorded at Maratone Studios, Stockholm, Sweden and at Conway Studios, Los Angeles, California, handled by Sam The netherlands and Emily Wright. Mixing was done by Serban Ghenea at MixStar Studios.[4] "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Honey" runs for a duration of three minutes and forty seconds.[v] This is the first of ii songs that Kotecha, Martin, and Shellback take co-written for Usher, who would afterward bring together the iii in co-writing his 2012 single "Scream".
According to the sheet music published at Musicnotes.com by Sony/ATV Music Publishing, "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" is written in the key of M Minor and has a tempo of 120 beats per minute. It follows the chord progression of Gm-F-E ♭ , and Conductor's vocal range spans from the low notation of 10003 to the high annotation of B ♭ 4.[6] The song is described as a club track,[1] [vii] that contains Europop and electronic trip the light fantastic toe influences.[7] [8] Bill Lamb of Nearly.com noted that the song puts emphasis on its chorus, to which Usher sings "with advisable passion".[7]
Critical reception [edit]
The song received mixed to positive reviews from critics, with criticism directed mainly towards its lack of originality. AllMusic's Andy Kellman noted the vocal every bit a stand up-out from Versus, along with "Hot Tottie" and "At that place Goes My Infant".[eight] Bill Lamb of Well-nigh.com gave the song three-and-a-half stars out of five, praising Usher'southward song delivery and the song'southward "memorable chorus". Despite citing the lyrics equally repetitive, he thought that the song "should keep clubgoers moving for months to come".[9]

In the United States, the song debuted at number nineteen on the Billboard Hot 100 on the week ending July 21, 2010. It became Conductor's 2nd superlative-20 debut of 2010, after "OMG" opened at number fourteen in April.[13] On the week ending September 2, 2010 "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" was positioned at number five. It was the first time that Conductor—every bit a lead artist—had four singles on the summit-xl of the Hot 100 simultaneously, with "OMG" at number twenty, "At that place Goes My Infant" at thirty-three and "Hot Tottie" at twenty-five.[14] "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" remained on the Hot 100 for thirty weeks before dropping out, and peaked at number four, becoming Usher'southward sixteenth pinnacle-ten striking.[15] The song peaked at number two on the Pop Songs Chart,[fifteen] and twelve on the Adult Pop Songs Chart.[fifteen] On the Hot 100 yr-finish charts for 2010 and 2011, it reached number twenty-two and sixty-five, respectively.[16] [17]
"DJ Got United states Fallin' in Honey" peaked at number two on the Canadian Hot 100 nautical chart,[18] and was certified two times Platinum past the Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA), for shipments of over 160,000 copies. Information technology peaked at number iii on the Australian Singles Charts,[nineteen] and received a six times Platinum certification past the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA).[twenty] The song reached number 4 on the New Zealand Singles Chart,[21] and was certified Platinum past the Recording Industry Clan of New Zealand (RIANZ). "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" was certified Platinum in the regions of México and Switzerland, past the AMPROFON and IFPI, respectively. The song accomplished success in Europe, peaking at number three on the European Hot 100.[ citation needed ] Internationally "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" reached the top-ten in over xv countries, condign i of Usher'due south most successful singles. It peaked in the summit five in Japan,[22] Hungary,[23] France,[24] Switzerland,[25] Germany[26] and Austria.[27]

Music video [edit]
The music video for the song premièred on August 26, 2010, on Vevo, and was directed past Hiro Murai.[31] [32] The video begins in a club surroundings, with misplaced furniture and a shattered glass canteen. The scene goes in reverse motility, people instantly appear, frozen in a raving action. Equally the scene is still reversing a DJ is spinning his booth, and the shattered drinking glass bottle forms into its original state, the clubbers and the scene so start to motility in frontwards but slow motion and the song begins with Usher approaching from a gear up of stairs. Usher slides into a room with a big lit up window as a dorsum drop. He performs choreography backed-up by female dancers for the second poesy, and and so returns to the original room with the second chorus coming in. A similar scene is involved to the first chorus, but this time Usher is dancing with the clubbers, who are nonetheless alternate in move speed. Pitbull then begins his verse, and is sat in a V.I.P. surface area with iii females, with the camera alternating between him, the clubbers and Usher. The video ends with its concluding scene, in a dance off, with Conductor dancing adjacent to some of the clubbers. Once the climax of the chorus comes in, Conductor jumps in the air and starts freely dancing forth with the clubbers, with anybody in the same motion speed; Conductor is primarily crip-walking. Usher and the clubbers and then perform a final organized choreography, mainly krumping, and the video ends.[32]
Live performances [edit]
Usher first performed "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Honey" on Good Morning America, alongside "OMG".[33] A few days later on, Usher performed the song on The Ellen DeGeneres Prove.[34] On September 17, 2010, he performed the song aslope "There Goes My Babe" on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.[35] Conductor performed "DJ Got United states of america Fallin' in Love" in the flavor 5 finale of America'due south Got Talent,[36] and in the seventh season of The X Factor.[37] He performed the song during his OMG Tour, alongside several other tracks.[38] The song was performed with "OMG" during the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.[39] VMA executive producer Dave Sirulnick told MTV News, "We said to him, 'We want to practise the best televised trip the light fantastic routine that you've done in years. Let'southward show why you're the rex.'"[39] MTV Buzzworthy writer, Tamar Antai was present at the rehearsal for the testify, and commented that the VMA crew was about to "pull off visual feats not just previously unseen and unparalleled at the VMAs, but unseen and unparalleled on Television."[forty]
The performance was received with critical acclaim. On Usher specifically Antai said the performance was like "liquid magic," saying, "He took it to the level that comes after the next level. The penthouse level."[40] He was aided by about a dozen background dancers, the males in skeleton-like costumes, and the females donning a one-piece, gloves and boots.[41] The "OMG" operation was accompanied past red laser lights, making an illusion equally if the phase disappeared.[42] The lights spelled out "O.Chiliad.G" equally well as "Usher", as dancers lowered from the ceiling.[42] Jayson Rodrgiguez of MTV News commented, "The vocaliser moved and grooved, proving that he's the R&B star that anybody pays attention to for the big moments."[39] Rochell D.
